Food Services
Welcome to Briggs Food Services! Our mission is to prepare students for learning, by providing nutritious and delicious meals every day. Our goal is to encourage students to develop, learn, and establish life-long habits for making healthy food choices.
At Briggs School District, we put special emphasis on fresh fruits and vegetables. Briggs School District participates in the National School Breakfast and Lunch Program. Every meal we serve meets the state and federal requirements, which are based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines.
Good nutrition leads to great academic performance!
Briggs School District offered free meals for all students last year thanks to temporary flexibilities granted by USDA waivers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Thankfully, CA Meals for All, a statewide program offering Universal Meals for all school children, is set to begin in the 2022-23 school year, which allows us to continue providing 100% free meals to 100% of kids! CA Meals for All is great news because:
CA Meals for All ensures daily access to a free breakfast and free lunch for all students, regardless of program eligibility. This benefits families at all income levels!
HOWEVER…..Qualifying for FREE or REDUCED MEALS could make you eligible for the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP). The ACP provides eligible households up to $30 a month, or $75 a month toward their internet bills. All households with a child WHO WAS APPROVED to receive free or reduced price school meals under the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) within the last 12 months are eligible for ACP benefits.
Qualifying for free or reduced lunches would provide additional funding to the district to provide quality services such as:
After School Enrichment
Fieldtrips
Enrichment activities
Music program
Single subject teachers in the middle grades
All programs assigned to support Migrant students, homeless/foster youth
